Come explore a different way to meditate and practice yoga!
In this workshop, students will learn about our human need for intentional voice work and we will get a brief history of Om. Then, we will start making sound! If you are already feeling uncomfortable about being vocal in a group setting, well, this may be just what you need.
Yoga is not always comfortable or familiar. We need to stretch a little and challenge ourselves from time-to-time if we want to go a little deeper. Voice work is a gentle, potent, challenge.
Whether it is humming, groaning, yelling or singing, we will explore why we should be more vocal. Then we will practice some ancient mantra and chant some variations of Om.
Finally, we will have a yoga asana practice. You will have the opportunity to invite mantra, silent or audible, into your practice to have a more embodied and aware movement practice.
Students who have experienced the practice of mantra and vocal vibration in a group setting have said that it creates a lasting feeling of equanimity. So, let’s just add some movement in a state of equanimity.
I’d love to see you there.
Om Shanti Shanti Shanti
